Responsibilities:
The day-to-day work includes (but not limited to):
-Writing code in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as PHP/C#/JavaScript
-Planning and prototyping new applications
-Designing the architecture of the components of an application
-Testing sites and applications in different browsers and environments
-Problem solving
-Fixing bugs in existing products
-Testing new features thoroughly to ensure they perform the correct task in all cases
-Running performance benchmarking tests
-Reviewing colleagues’ code
-Building and testing Application Program Interfaces (APIs) for applications to exchange data
-Researching, incorporating and contributing to Open Source projects
-Meeting designers, developers and project staff for progress updates
-Learning and testing new technologies, frameworks and languages
-Staying up to date with new trends and advancements in web development
-Building and maintaining databases
-Refactoring and optimising existing code
-Designing information architecture within an application or website.
Opportunities to work on:
-Developing a range of software projects to build bespoke web and mobile applications
-Testing code and UI/UX prototypes, review and recommend changes to designers and developers.
Required Skills:
-On track for a 1st or 2:1 class degree at graduation (evidence of year 1 and year 2 semester 1 results will be required)
-Any of the following: PHP, C#, MySQL, CSS, HTML, JavaScript
-Excellent attention to detail, organisational and planning skills
-Good interpersonal, motivational and communications skills
-Ability to use own initiative and meet deadlines
-Key strengths in problem solving and analytical ability
-Discretion and an understanding of confidentiality issues (agreement to sign NDA)
-A keen interest in new & emerging and existing technologies.
